About the Author
Bongsik Shin teaches at San Diego State University. He has teaching experience in data communications & network security, business intelligence (data warehousing, data mining, and statistics), introductory and advanced electronic commerce, IT management & strategy, operating systems, and principles of MIS. Especially, he has been teaching data communications & network security over 18 years. His academic activities have been funded by nineteen different teaching and research grants since 1997. His research interests include e-commerce/mobile commerce, information security, IT capability, and research methodology. His research has appeared in such journals as MIS Quarterly, IEEE Transactions (Engineering Mgt & SMC), Journal of AIS, European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of MIS, Information Systems Journal, Communications of the ACM, Information & Management, and Decision Support Systems.

The book is comprehensive, yet written in simple language.

I did not like Computer Networks much before Dr.Shin, who was my professor last sem. I was glad I took up this course. I not only understand networks better now, but enjoyed learning it as well. Thanks to Dr. Shin and his book. The book is comprehensive, yet written in simple language. It is well organized and the concepts are explained effectively. There are exercises at the end of certain concepts and at the end of every chapter, which help test your understand the concepts. I would highly recommend this book.

This book is really well written and organized for an into to computer networking. It's clear, concise, and provides the right amount of detail for beginners. It is also very easy to read and the exercises were helpful. The author was my professor last semester and I learned a great deal from reading the book. I would highly recommend this book.
